Pub Note: Apologies for the interruption in my regular publishing schedule! I'm buried in writing The Corporate Blogging Book. Back to regular programming in December. In the meantime, get useful updates on my BlogWriteForCEOs blog. - DW Quick guide to Web 2.0
I'll cover Web 2.0 and how it will impact you in the last chapter of my book. Still cogitating myself on what it all means.
In simple high-level terms, Web 2.0 is an emerging version of the Web that's more user-friendly and more useful. (Some say it's new; others say it's part of an evolution. I think it sounds "new"!)
You'll experience it through user-generated content (blogging is one example), easy-to-use collaborative tools (wikis are an example but they're not "new") and the ability to customize your use of the Web.
Useful links to get you started
It's a Whole New Web (Sept. 26, 2005 BusinessWeek Special Report)
What Is Web 2.0? by Tim O'Reilly; a bit technical but comprehensive; you'll find the Web 2.0 Meme Map on this page (Sept. 30, 2005)

Web 2.0 Meme Map that bloggers are passing around (Note: this is on Flickr; you may need to register but it's worth it)
Web 2.0 naysayers, already...
Some are tired of this trendy new word already. They've got a point. Except I do think Web 2.0, however you want to define it, represents a new experience of the Web.
Web 2.0 (does not equal) a check
Web 2.0 is all hot air
Free download from "Cashing In With Content"
New book by David Meerman Scott, Cashing In With Content, covers just what I've been yammering about for the past four years: useful online content will help you turn "clicks" into customers.
Meerman uses 20 case studies (including the Wall Street Journal Online, Booz Allen and Dean for America) to drive home his point. He covers B2C and B2B as well as non-profits, education and healthcare.
Download a 26-page excerpt from Cashing In With Content (link goes to the download page with more information; I haven't read the whole book yet but intend to.)
Another great download from Seth Godin
"Who's There?" Seth Godin's new e-book about blogging
And here's the newest e-book from Seth!

It's called Everyone Is An Expert and you can read all about it and download it here. It's the sneak preview and soft launch of Squidoo.com
See ya in December
It may sound far away but it's unnervingly close if you're writing a book and sprinting to the finish. So you won't hear from me til then.
But I do post (usually several times a week) to my blog at www.BlogWriteForCEOs.com. Hope you'll visit, read and leave a comment! If you want to get pinged when I update the blog, sign up for the RSS feed. Info here on how to do that.
Also check out my useful Blogging, Podcasting & RSS 101. (Carefully culled links that explain it all.)
Oh, and if you're looking to fill a last-minute slot for a speaker or in-house trainer on "Corporate Blogging 101" in December, I have some time available. Call me at 202.364.5705 Eastern.
Warm regards,
