Top 5 resources for e-books & special reports

Blogging The Big Seminar; Bangkok or Manila?

I've culled my top recommendations for how-to e-books about e-books and special reports down to five. Here is an annotated list. Yes, they require purchase.

E-book Secrets Exposed by Jim Edwards and David Garfinkel (US $49)

This is one of the original e-books on e-books. Never mind the hype on the sales page above. You'll find a surprising amount of useful information on how to choose a topic that will sell. I printed out all 191 pages and read it through.

How to Write a 10 Quick Steps Guide by David Lawrence ($10)

Consult the guide above for a step-by-step primer on how to organize your material. You can even copy the guide's format. This is one title in a nifty series of "10 Step" guides available either as downloadable PDFs or MP3 audio files.

E-book on E-books by KISS Computing ($24)

Newly published by the nice folks who re-designed my site a year ago, this is a basic cookbook for creating an e-book. Breezy and informal, it covers writing style and organization, design & layout, and payment and delivery options.

Profiting from Booklets and Special Reports by Marcia Yudkin ($95)

Priciest PDF on this list but it's an excellent resource (70 pages). I found her sections on perceived value and how to price extremely valuable.

Ralph F. Wilson's Making & Marketing E-books (US $12 or get it free when you subscribe to Web Marketing Today)

If you had to pick one out of the 5, this 46-page PDF offers the best value. It's an updated collection of Wilson's informative articles on the topic of e-books or digital reports. He covers specifics of formatting, pricing, selling tools, resources for cover art, etc.

If you sign up for his Web Marketing Today free e-newsletter, you get it as a premium. Follow the link above.

I'm heading to Orlando (sunny Florida!) early tomorrow for The Big Seminar, the Internet marketing mega-conference I've been telling you about.

Yes, I know it sounds hype-filled but I picked up lots of specific tips when I attended last August and plan to do the same this time around. Besides, these marketing gurus are fun to rub shoulders with. Great networking in the hall, as they say...

I'll be posting useful tidbits to my blog during this 3-day conference. If you're subscribed, you'll get "pinged" with updates. If you haven't subscribed to my blog, follow the instructions in the green box above at right to learn how.

Reminder: are you in Bangkok or Manila?

I'll be in both those cities for several days in April. If you'd like to meet, please shoot me a message and tell me where you are! Email me with this link.

Warm regards,
