If you blog, will they come?

By Debbie Weil

That's a question you've probably asked yourself if you've contemplated launching a blog as part of your online marketing communications.

And it's a good one. Because despite all the talk about RSS as the new way to reach out and grab your readers (via an RSS newsreader), the fact is that most folks still don't know - or care - what RSS is.

One solution? Offer your blog visitors a way to subscribe to your blog via email. FeedBlitz.com is becoming the de facto standard for incorporating an email signup into your blog.

And my point is... please subscribe to BlogWrite via email!

Which brings me to the goal of this issue of WordBiz Report! Follow this link and look for the email signup box on the left hand side of BlogWrite For CEOs. My blog was recently voted #8 in a list of the top 25 most influential authorities on the topic of business blogging.

Enter your email (be sure to click the confirmation link in the message that will be bounced back to you). Now you'll get a nice looking HTML update every time I post to my blog.

Don't worry. I'm not a three-post-a-day kind of blogger. It's once or twice a week max. And, to be honest (because that's what bloggers are really, truly supposed to be) you'll find the best tidbits that I'm thinking and writing about these days on my blog.

Hey, subscribe to BlogWrite via email! Read my post about RSS usage while you're at it. (50-million plus RSS users don't even know what it is!).

You can always unsubscribe from FeedBlitz, just as with this newsletter.

Join me at the ContentBiz Summit in New York on Monday & Tuesday, May 8-9

If you think this conference is just for publishers, think again. No matter what your business you will learn how to market and sell with content.

And what is online content? You got it. It's blogs, e-newsletters, e-alerts, downloadable white papers, PDF tips sheets, useful articles - and even podcasts. Often, publishers use free content to market paid content. You can do the same thing no matter what kind of widgets you're selling.

This is hands-down one of my favorite conferences. I missed it last May and am really looking forward to attending this year.

Don't wait if you're interested. ContentBiz Summit always sells out a few weeks before the event. If you want to go, grab your ticket now. (Save $200 before March 31st.)

And let's get together and talk content - and blogs and podcasts - while you're there. In fact, I'll offer a free one hour consult (value $500) to the first three WordBiz readers who register. Just send me your confirmation email and we'll set up a time to meet.

Read a wrap-up of last year's Content Summit.

NewComm Forum

NewComm Forum (March 1 - 3) in Palo Alto was a great event. I moderated a panel on corporate blogging with Jeremiah Owyang of Hitachi Data Systems and Paul Rosenfeld of Intuit.

The conference focused on how blogging, wikis, podcasting and other emerging tools & technologies are impacting media, marketing, PR and advertising.

Should your company be blogging?

Are you the lone blogging evangelist in your organization?

Here's what I can do:

I can help you make the case for blogging by delivering an informative, cogent presentation on Corporate Blogging 101 - or 201 - to your team. I'll customize it with examples and recommendations tailored to your products or services, market niche and company culture. Tell me what your goal is and I'll deliver a "wow" session. I can also work with you as a consultant to get your blogging program launched.

"We brought Debbie in to do a tutorial session on blogs for Corporate Communications and Marketing.  The participants rated her session the highest of all the ones we've done this year."
